If that young person goes on to identify as trans and transition, that's a good, healthy outcome for a trans youth. If that young person experiments for a while and does not go on to transition, that's a good, healthy outcome for a cis youth.

The panic is that normal exploration, experimentation with different fashion trends, and trying out new roles equals gender dysphoria diagnoses equals medical transition. It does not.

It's great that androgyny is coming back into style, after a decade or two where gender roles were very strictly policed. But, every kid who cuts their hair or wears a skirt and hangs out with similar styled youth isn't being turned trans.
