The thing that really bugs me is that Evan's own writing suggests the influence of social contagion, & there's no real evidence of meeting even the old DSM-IV criteria unless you consider that occurring AFTER having become invested in transgenderist beliefs & "gender play."

Not nearly as humiliating as admitting I was trans in the first place. Believe me, I considered the possibility that I was wrong. But, the possibility of relief of my symptoms was a chance I had to take. And, I'm so glad I did. Finally living GD is really great.

I don't know what generalizations you think I'm making about which kids. I've been saying, consistently, that I'm all for research into which patients with GD will be helped by transition.

Explain why? If I had a bacterial infection would it make sense to identify all possible options other than antibiotics first? If not, why wouldn't transition, the only treatment that has been shown to work, be the first treatment option explored for persistent, consistent GD?

Take a deep breath, relax, drop the ideology, and allow the imperfect system of medical research to continue to do its work. In time, I hope it will be even more clear which patients will be helped by transition and which ones won't.

Imperfect research can advance knowledge. Littman's study wasn't imperfect, it was so flawed as to be worthless.
