I lived with my Mama til I graduated from grad school. And I’m so grateful to her. It would have taken me so much longer to get a BA & MA. Living with her grew my career. My bio mother kicked me out when @ 16. I could have been out on the street like so many Black queer & trans kids, but Mama stepped in & was a real mother to me. Never be ashamed to do what you gotta do. Your life story doesn’t have to be like the ideal, that’s for the privileged

The goal in our plan to adopt our queer 17 year old foster kid when he turns 18 is to give him the room to be young, make mistakes, experience setbacks, and still have his family to fall back on- which is what every young person starting out should have.
