Been there.. until I realised that Photoshop got a painless way of doing this, check out the Batch processor under "File", can do some common tasks like that really quickly, not complicated to setup either.

That’s what I’m doing but if you’re changing a file format to a renamed jpg it confirms the image quality manually for every image.
