It may be a long way down the road. But we won't stop until the sufferers' voices are finally heard. We may not be able to walk the streets. Yet millions of patients worldwide can achieve a lot together. Welcome to another .

Professor Ron Davis presents an update of the research. This is his second talk at the Emerge Australia research symposium. On the invisibility of the illness: “There were four bed bound patients within two blocks of my house and I never knew it.”

„There were 4 bed bound patients within two blocks of my house and I never knew it.” isn’t a rare disease, it is rarely diagnosed. We disappear behind the curtains. Some neighbors think we have moved out, others have never met us.

Public do not realise how devastating can be as the sickest are invisible Many do not even see a doc, home visits often refused, patient disbelieved fear hospital because of lack of understanding of needs

Don’t ask disabled people how much access is enough access. When disabled people have access to everything that nondisabled people have access to, that will be enough access. Access means access. Not no access. Not less access. Access means access.

If women wearing revealing clothing troubles you, I suggest directing your discomfort toward the people who objectify their bodies rather than the women choosing how to happily exist in them.

Autistic people: Have communication disabilities. Many of us are nonverbal or situationally nonverbal. We use Twitter as a platform for accessible communication. Politicians: I will only consider listening to you if you meet with me properly and formally face to face.

PDMPs can be a health care tool, or a law enforcement too, but not both simultaneously. need to pick one side. As a , I do have a serious issue with law enforcement trawling through my prescription records without cause or a warrant.

The number of people who accept Amazon paying no taxes, but can’t accept that public transit could and should be free, is baffling.

please, PLEASE, stop referring to women as females. it’s dehumanizing. women don’t like it. not to mention it’s weird to say men and females in the same sentence. just say women. a majority of the time, when someone says “females,” the follow up is deeply rooted in misogyny

Thank you for a great White Fragility and Faux Apology 101 course. Next time I apologize for something I’ll be sure to blame the victimized, and marginalize group and call them violent savages who need to be polite to racists before owning up to anything. Ugh. Genius.

Hey Flatiron, this is what you’re supposed to do: 1. Acknowledge your mistake without excuse 2. Accept blame without shifting it to POC and creating harmful perceptions POCs are causing safety issues 3. Affirm diversity by creating a prescriptive action plan 4. Set timeline

When I first got sick and started receiving some diagnoses (a few wrong ones before we made our way to EDS) people would ALWAYS tell me things like “now, don’t let disease or disability define you.” And at first I would nod along and assure them I would never do that.

Trump’s lawyers argued he has a right to abuse his power as much as he wants, and Congress can do nothing about it. Sounds familiar: Trump: “I have an Article 2, where I have the right to do whatever I want as president.” Congress can do something: hold a fair trial.
