Is e2e and third-party supported password reset truly mutually exclusive? This feels like an algorithm challenge, not a compromise.

The best potential solution I’ve heard is social backup via multi-sig. Rsync before Dropbox.

Apple should offer e2e-encryption as an option (people would still complain after ignoring warnings and losing data oc), but thinking back to being in sales: I probably wouldn’t have suggested activating it to most customers, losing data is far greater threat than FBI to majority

What about deceased people though who have enabled encryption and not shared their password? Given the huge customer base, there will be lots of those cases.
