Happy launch anniversary Voyager 1! The Voyager 1 spacecraft launched 41 years ago from Kennedy Space Center. It is now technically beyond the boundary of our solar system and in interstellar space. *This video is the Jupiter approach from 1979.

Not sure what will happen with Opportunity, but in a very real way, the success of that rover (and Spirit) saved NASA’s Mars program after a calamitous decade of hits and misses. When it landed, JPL promised a 90-day lifetime. 5,330 days later, it’s still in business.
