Norway, France & other nations have been taxing vehicles based on weight & emissions rating--one tax on new car purchase + annually recurring tax on registration tenewal--for 15-20 years. Norway collects more $s from vehicle taxes than fuel excise & CO2 taxes combined.

What happened today is proof that a majority government CANNOT do whatever they want. Congratulations to all CUPE workers for making history. Your commitment to protecting all of our rights will never be forgotten. Thank you.

Surprised the Queens Park reporters were unprepared to question the premier on the math in his presser. The outrageous claims made by about education workers were Trump like in their falsity, yet he got away with these statements unquestioned.

The math isn't mathing: - Based on past pay raises CUPE members earning $39k today earned $35838 in 2012 - the buying power of $35838 in 2012 = buying power of $44712 today - Lecce's 2.5%/year over 4 years would bring the avg to pay to $43049 IN 4 YEARS! - these are pay DECREASES

Hi! Former comms lead on the employer’s side for provincial collective bargaining here. What you just heard from the Premier is pure nonsense. He basically said he’d lower his gun (s33) if you agree to hand over your wallet (your rights). That’s not bargaining. It’s a stick-up.

Bill 23 and Bill 28 both serve to undermine the public interest. Unity is our best tool, let's use it. #Solidarity #onpoli #cdnpoli

Agree that it was a tactic. Media can talk about both, let’s not pit one against the other. The framing is stripping the protections of labour and environment at the same time. The use of the notwithstanding clause was a nuclear event and this is a land grab. Both horrendous. twitter.com/Mikeggibbs/sta…

“I will be seeking leave on, to propose an emergency debate regarding the use of the Ontario Government’s use of notwithstanding clause to override the Charter protected right to collective bargain,” NDP MP Matthew Green. Globalnews.ca

Privatization is theft of the public good for the private profit. As we head into this looming recession watch how the following tactics are used justify selling off our public assets and services. 1. Cut funding 2. Undermine the service 3. Blame the service 4. Sell the service

World’s 7 biggest oil firms make £150bn profit. Only 56 out of 212 countries have bigger GDP. Their profiteering is our cost-of-living crisis. Tax dodging, environmental abuse is rife Despite huge profits, companies receive govt subsidies. Who governs?

I am not an Ontarian, or a teacher, or an education assistant, but I have a perspective on the Ford government’s “Keeping Students in Schools Act”. I was Minister of Education in Alberta for 7 years, including the time the Charter was developed and enacted. #onted #onpoli

Key thread on how Conservative governments operate. Privatize then get your rewards in $millions like Mike Harris did.

Our investigation into how the NDP establishment stole the B.C. leadership race. Rule-bending, voter suppression by private agencies, panicked calls to labour allies. Part of what a top former NDP official calls a “pervasive culture of cheating." #bcpoli
