It's pretty upsetting, although, not at all out of character, that FB now requires ppl to use their FB accounts for Oculus. The future of VR is just depressing at this point. I'm going to rewrite my VR UI Kit to support Steam instead of Oculus.

TIL there already is a declarative visual scripting asset for Unity and it's Playmaker: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/visual-scripting/playmaker-368 … Pretty neat. I wonder if you can drill down into each nodes to see what they are made of.

With all the visual scripting popping up now-a-day. I really want to see a declarative version of one. The ability to group empirical nodes together into a declarative node would bring so much clarity to the UI.

Considering Unity is over a decade old. I feel like a missed opportunity for Snap to reinvent the authoring experience to something that their audience can use. I do prefer their straight forward JS scripting to what SparkAR is doing with their reactive framework.

Hot take on Lens Studio. Great templates, simulations, and device integration, just like SparkAR. But it is basically Unity allover again. Geared towards devs and not consumers. No nocode interface. Obtuse components that guarantee a lot of time looking up docs.

And as someone who enjoys writing JS and C#. SparkAR scripting is confounding. Async/Await/Promises needs to be abstracted if it's gonna be a part of every script? Signals are super frustrating to deal with. I just want to compare some numbers but can't (easily). XD

My take on Spark AR is that it's really easy to get started thanks to great templates, simulation videos, and device integration. Patches is a decent No Code interface, but the functionalities are not clear and limiting.

Messing around with Spark AR and making a Twitch chat filter. It's interesting that their No Code interface is Maya's Shader Graph circa 2005. Are there alternative No Code interfaces out there?
