The problem with diets is that no matter how well you market them, your marketing will be erased by the people on them. If those people are moaning and miserable while they lose 25lbs, I don't want to touch that.
My guess is that vegetarians and others with special restrictions have the same problem. "Just a little won't hurt." "Take a cheat day." "*million reasons why THIS THING does not count*"

And I'm guilty of doing crap like that too. It's like a human instinct: you look miserable because you're on a diet? Eat this and do not be miserable. For that reason, it always feels like diets fly in the face of human evolution. People not eating triggers something.

For me, it boils down to a choice: am I so unhappy with how I look/feel at x weight that I am willing to be miserable about food for y amount of time to resolve that feeling? Some days, I am very clearly not, which is why I've stalled out in the last 2-3 months.
