It's felt that way for a bit honestly, like Mario + Rabbids isn't considered AAA despite Nintendo and Ubisoft being behind it lol

I don't understand why games aren't just A, B and C if they really want to do that. Is it because AA is more marketable than B? And AAA more marketable than A?

AAA to me has always been a term for the development side; biggest budget, best team, most polished which traditionally means most profitable; but I feel that had change for last 10 years. Games no longer need to be AAA to generate AAA like revenue/profit due to F2P/MTX model.
