I said this in a reply to someone else but real quick: games media crunch being commonplace doesn't make it any less abhorrent, shedding light on it helps to de-normalize it and expose how much harm it does. this whole damn industry has needed a reckoning on this for a hot minute
the outlets that can afford to take the traffic hit of not being first have to prioritize the wellbeing of their employees when codes come in hot. them doing that will make the environment such that smaller outlets can more easily afford to do so too.

I guess the crunch on the developers trickles down, making the game late for the reviewers... This whole industry has a huge time management problem, and the workers pay for it...

Is there an association of games media (or just media) that can negotiate industry wide standards in the US? Because giving 48h to review a 30h game seems abhorrent.

All media companies are trying to get the info out there, especially when there's a thirst for it. I don't foresee the thirst going away, and competitiveness forces this situation. But if a minimum lead time was offered to all, you guys wouldn't be under such a crunch...
