I'm coming around on Shadowlands now that I'm in the swing of raising again, but aside from its rushed, linear leveling experience I think its worst offense is how little the game explains most of its endgame systems

It's weird, too, because Blizzard did really good work fixing the beginner experience this expac so new people actually get a proper tutorial. But when you ding 60 the game just goes "here's 40 things to do" without showing you where half of them are or why you'd want to do them

Legendary crafting, which requires you to have a pile of money and use the AH, is unfun gameplay but also unclear about what you're meant to be doing, or even what you're looking for. Half the reputations at max level are hidden somewhere, along with their vendors and rewards

While you're sent to The Maw for quests occasionally, I have yet to be shown a compelling reason to visit it regularly. Torghast is at least a little better (and fun) but again requires you understand legendary crafting or it's pointless.

Basically, instead of using guides for optimization, I'm using guides for "what is this?" Or "how do I do Basic Thing?" Which isn't great for players who aren't super tuned in -- though maybe at this point, WoW's main audience largely is.
