awful lot of headlines to the effect of "don't worry everyone, the transphobic author wasn't directly involved in the game based on her IP, you can spend money on it!" either neglecting to mention or cramming in at the end that she definitely will make piles of money from it
my original tweet is pointing out that the argument "if you are worried about the Hogwarts game being connected to a transphobe, don't worry, she's not directly involved!" doesn't do the work people are trying to make it do because she is still benefitting monetarily

I'm saying that if this is shit you genuinely care about, it's disingenuous to absolve yourself of guilt by saying "oh well she didn't really WORK on it so it's fine"

Why should someone feel guilty for consuming a product that brings them happiness? Boycotting this product will not hurt JK. It can hurt the developers. We’ve had dozens of studio closures in the last 5 years.

Your tweet talks about work solidarity and not supporting workers because of people above them. That’s what I’m referencing to.

okay, I may still be misunderstanding, but my argument is squarely "I don't think it is right to purchase a product that will give money, attention, and support to a famous person espousing transphobic views, even if people disconnected from her views and riches are involved"
