When my brain does this, I write down what I expect to happen, worst case. Then when the thing happens, I write down what did happen. The result is a nice long list of times when the worst case scenario didn't even get close to happening that I can refer to whenever. It helps.
Yup. Logically when you feel like this you usually know it's not rational but it's easy to remember times when things went wrong and harder to remember times it didn't, so having that evidence, from yourself, right in front of you, can help.
