The Witcher nailed it. I recognize Straw Ars and Marvel are different beasts because one can't expect to walk into Movie #9 without a grasp of the eight that came before and really enjoy it, but when Movie #9 is such a huge piece of pop culture it does get tiring

anyway I'm going to see the Straw Ars tomorrow. I am going to say now, as I have for years, "star wars is fine," and nothing I have heard thus far about this latest film has given me reason to think it will change my mind on that front

Which is interesting because I’ve seen many saying they hate how hard it is to understand the show without reading the books. Which to me is just complaining the show doesn’t lay out all the information you need in its first episode.

I disagree with that take so much, too! In the first episode or two I get a basic gist: medieval-sort-of world, there's magic, Geralt is a Witcher, Witchers are extra powerful dudes who fight monsters and are sometimes reviled! Not sure what else I need to follow the plot!

My wife doesn't game at all and followed the show completely. She's actually getting the books now as the show sold the world so well. I came into the show knowing about 4 characters and the reputation of a Witcher. It is fantastic.
