mine is the one in the quoted tweet there. Reviewed the Switch hardware, BotW, Just Dance 2017, and 1-2-Switch in I believe 10 days. While working a FT job. I did nothing but work, play games, and sleep, and it was not fun in the slightest.

It also does not factor in the huge time of writing and construction.

Don't even get me started. I was never officially forced, but it's the nature of the print that you want to have coverage soon, else you are risking beinh 2-3 months behind.

GTA5. 13 hour days of playing, because the review embargo was in a week, or something absurd like that.

Monster Hunter World (and Iceborne) had relatively reasonable embargos... if you got code from the EU side. Even then, you had like... 2 1/2 weeks to review Monster Hunter World, which was probably a very big ask for a game that size. Iceborne, we got 4 weeks. NA had 1 week.

pretty much any triple-a game or rpg results in just playing all night because i don't have time during my work day to do it. for recent ones, kingdom hearts 3 and we happy few i recall the crunch being particularly awful

sega, in my experience, gives the most time for reviews for any triple-a game. usually have a month+ for yakuzas, i remember i had a few months for persona 5. that's ideal, because it just slides into my life and i feel like i can play it more carefully and less like a marathon!
