when I moved here, I had a potted orchid that was dying, and in the last eight months I managed to (I thought) revive it so it grew a ton of new leaves and roots.

today I discovered it had root and crown rot that had infected....basically all of it. the bases of all but three of its leaves (one of the good leaves is brand new) and every root. I tried to just cut away the bad bits, but it's all through. I cut off nearly everything.

This is what's left. Looks fine from the top, but it has no roots and only a tiny bit of crown. There's a single nub where a root may be growing underneathpic.twitter.com/EkmTTbUsBf

I don't really understand why I'm so invested in this orchid. Orchids are challenging indoor plants, and I'm a less-than-mediocre gardener. But I really want this baby to survive. I've had it for something like 4-5 years, and it's bloomed three times.
