Here's my take on the current Twitter discourse: I would love to see games get to a point where big budget titles are able to graduate difficulty in ways that can address a wider variety of experiences:

That includes people who just want to see the game without struggling, people with disabilities who still want a challenge but need accessibility, and people without need for accessibility options who want to play just a fucking crazy hard game

THAT ALL SAID. If people with disabilities say they wish a game had an easy mode so they could play, then they know what they need and want, so maybe it's okay for them to want that and we should back them up.

I am firmly in the camp of it not being a bad thing that every game in the year of our Lord twenty-nineteen isn't fucking Milon's Secret Castle

As I kid I watched older kids play that game and it was so dense and difficult and obtuse and stupid but also fascinating but also I am so glad we've figured out how to do things like, save files

I love that some levels could only be finished just by spamming bubbles randomly til one accidentally hit the invisible door
