Excellent read from Rob, and not at all the same take you've read everywhere else for the last week.https://twitter.com/GIBiz/status/1060849483251015685 …

I'll believe you. I grant that this was almost certainly a business inevitability. The negative emotion centers in our brains were triggered, perhaps with irrational ferocity, when this was announced to Western Blizzcon attendees as if it was something we wanted.
In other news, I have been greatly enjoying Diablo 3 on my Switch.
It's that "real proud Gamers only bathe in the light of their monitors" mentality
I completely agree. It’s easy to dismiss mobile as “casual” or not recognize its value. If you look globally though, it’s hard deny its importance.
Not only that. There are millions of potential gamers who may very likely go through their entire life without getting a PC or a console (especially in China & India). The question is not: "Do I play on a PC or a Phone?" The question is: "Do I play? Or do I not?"
And denying those people experience of playing a video game is the most un-gamer thing ever.
My take is this is the same as the Bethesda and Nintendo mobile games. They’re intended to reach a large global audience, they’re casual, they’re (usually) entertaining and it’s always going to be someone’s first experience with the franchise.
The elitist attitude I’ve seen reminds me a ton of Pokémon Go. “It’s not a real title!” They cried. Two years later it’s arguably the biggest mobile game ever and is getting a console game next week thatll move millions of consoles.
You're soooooo speaking my language with this!
I blame you for introducing me to the importance of mobile to begin with!
