In the USA in 2017, about 16,000 people died from guns (excluding suicide). More than 2x that many, 40,000 died from car accidents in the USA in 2017. Both are horrifying tragedies. I'd love to see us scream for driverless cars as loudly as we scream for better gun control.
Car accidents are a problem and it is possible to care about multiple things but there is a massive, massive distance between the ability to purchase a vehicle for transport that may on accident, harm someone and the ability to purchase an item whose sole purpose is to cause harm

I agree. *And*, as a statistical fact, cars are killing more of us than guns are. Even if the deeds of buying a gun and buying a gun aren't morally equivalent, I want our policy makers to stop taking NRA money and to support driverless cars.

*buying a gun and buying a car
