If Nintendo thought online multiplayer would bring in a significant amount more sales to balance the cost of adding and maintaining it, they'd do it. I think there's a lot to criticize about their online approach but...Mario Party? A game always focused on local play?

As it stands now ,the MP series is the only multiplayer Mario spin-off that doesn't have online options. I think it's fair to call them out when they have a paid online service coming. Many of their games started as local play but evolved with time, so should this one.

Fair. It's a lot harder to see the appeal of multiplayer in this in particular I think

Not the worst case scenario here but it's a missed opportunity to not have a little more to promote with. I would love to play this one but i can't use my preferred controller and i can't get my friends together. So i am essentially locked out from this one.

I don't disagree that it's a notable omission but of all the things to ask for a 100% boycott of a game for in an industry that regularly exploits its workers and women, the initial statement is absurd.

Woah woah woah huge leap there. I don't want to support hurting workers (especially the female ones), anymore than I already do by putting money into the industry at all. How does desiring a grass-roots boycott support such an atrocity?

Sorry I'm on a dang show floor and not doing nuance well. didn't mean to imply you didn't care about those things or pull a whatabout. Mainly I think it's a weird, over the top request for a game not having a feature it's never had before and is selling fine without. That's all.

Fitting to mention E3 since that's the metaphorical epitome of the behaviors that I want, by vote of dollars, to squelch. If people buy Mario Party without online, it will affirm Nintendo's decision to leave online out. Companies don't do good things if they're paid not to.

Revy.. I'm ultimately sorry that I happen to hate so much something that's crucial for the career you've always wanted. If it's any comfort, my career enables a lot of horrible behavior too.

I don't disagree with you! I think your expectations are weird and you're more cynical than it warranted for certain things. Just because I work in the industry doesn't mean I don't have a critical eye on it. In fact, given my particular job, it's even more important to question.

You haven't read enough of the work my site puts out clearly, because my hope on being there is to do some good work that will help make the sucky parts of the industry the tiniest bit better, and celebrate that which is already amazing.

A goal I could certainly not disagree with.
