    Good advice ⤵️ I sometimes use my walk home in the evenings to problem solve and think about the structure and argument of my papers when I’m *really* stuck

    Every day now I try to take 2-3 walks away from my office, sometimes for 15-20 minutes just to think, listen to music, use my senses, because I know that my time away from the desk is as valuable as my time at the desk. 8/11

    Just reached stage four 🎉

    The 5 stages of reacting to a peer review comment: 1. That’s so dumb, they should be stripped of their doctorate 2. I can see where they’re coming from, but still dumb 3. This doesn’t *harm* the paper 4. The paper is stronger 5. I will now use this approach in all my papers

    Let’s keep some perspective regarding . What is more important: Sharing good science on new virus outbreaks in real time? Or avoiding the possibility of a crappy paper being posted on the internet then rapidly debunked?

    What bugs me about this preprint is that had this manuscript undergone legitimate peer review, these flaws would have led to a swift rejection and it wouldn’t be contributing to the conspiracy theories and fear surrounding this outbreak. 5/5

    If your field: i) tests hypotheses, ii) rewards successful hypotheses with career advancement, and iii) has no stringent mechanisms to prevent researcher biases influencing the evaluation of hypothesis tests, then I'm sorry to say that publication bias exists in your field
