To anyone saying it isn't real, here's the hand connected to arm to shoulder. And not a monkey, that's an ape, same group as humans. Looks like a bonobo, literally the closest relative to humans Scientists been using screens like this to test animal intellect for DECADES toopic.twitter.com/WU7qP73o77
Literally that kind of animal research is HUGE for companies like insta, twitter, fb, etc, that want to get you stuck scrolling forever. They abuse the brain's reward system, same w/ apps like candy crush. When I took Learning Psychology, this was basically all we talked about.
Did y’all go into second-order brain-reward-system abuse though? Because now I’m really into watching videos of apes having their brain reward systems abused and I am also an ape having my brain abused by this.
Shit, that's meta. So that response is probably a combo of novelty (assuming you haven't seen an ape on insta before), and mirror neurons (basically, when watching someone do something, the brain reacts as if you are the one acting). Both of those would feed into that reward loop
Just to clarify, the basics of the reward system are: 1)thing happens, 2)brain decides thing was good, 3)chemicals release that feel good/encourage more of thing. This is great bc it helps us know what's edible, it's how we learn to act in new situations, etc.
Social media uses tricks like color, sound to hack into the system. If likes give you hit of chemicals, you'll keep posting. But if you get satisfied, you'll stop. So design focuses on giving you just a little less than you want, to keep you around, but with the promise of MORE.
Like heroin, but with an overall more detrimental impact upon society and with less trustworthy people selling it to you. Tony Two-Fingers? I know Tony. He'll bury me in my mom's yard if I don't pay up. Good guy, Tony. Everyone in Silicon Valley? More likely cannibals than not.
You already own the drugs, and the dealer is just selling you an easy yet inefficient way to consume them
its called animal cruelty.. nothing funny about that
Ok boomer
Yea, disliking animal cruelty is a real "boomer" stance
I’m in my early 20’s. That wasn’t funny, it was sick and anyone that thinks harming an animal is funny needs immediate mental health intervention. “Boomer” - soy down and call a good psychologist.
It’s crazy how many people forget we are/ were animals smh, just cuz they can’t talk don’t mean it’s cruelty.
This is weird because they didnt force him, he obviously wanted to try it, but its also impossible for him to understand what it is, but its also a natural substance and animals have been known to eat things to get high on purpose.... idk man let him live he looks happy

The chimp does not understand what it is doing to its brain. It does not have informed consent. The same way the 2 yo boy who loved his cigarettes that went viral a while ago was still being neglected/abused by the people who gave it to him.
This chimp is called Sugriva!! The guy who recorded this works for a wildlife organization that advocates preservation and education of animals. His chimp brother/friend is called Limbani and he’s just as adorable! Here’s his Instagram for anyone interested.pic.twitter.com/1IEUkL6OEK
I was expecting it to be the chimp’s IG.
Same. A little disappointed...
