Hang on, is going to charge people with a low income ORCA LIFT card *more* than people paying cash while also promoting it as saving 66%? With these prices it costs 50% more on Link, and could be more than *double* on Sounder. Ridiculous.
Email from Sound Transit, highlighting fares of $1 on Link and $2 on Sounder, with other text saying that ORCA (including ORCA LIFT) will be charged full fare.
Screenshot of Sound Transit website saying that the ORCA LIFT fare for Link is $1.50.
Screenshot of Sound Transit website showing that Sounder fares on ORCA LIFT range from $2.50 to $4.25.
I know it's not an easy task but maybe *change the ORCA fares* before you start charging again. Really glad I have other options and that my pass doesn't auto-load unless I tap my card; I usually lose money on it but there's no way I'm paying $99/month now.
The level of apparent difficulty doing...anything...within the ORCA system never ceases to amaze! FWIW here's what ST told us when we asked about this:

I hope the new system (whenever it finally arrives) will be more flexible, but I have my doubts. Bonkers that the E-purse can't just purchase the reduced fare when it's tapped on the yellow readers.
