Ik it’s a bit dark. It seems to be a good place to look for interesting things because most people stay away from thinking about death for too long stretches. If it was your research passion it could weigh on you unless you were hopelessly passionate about interesting things.

I wonder about the dynamics of wealth distribution after death. In recent years and throughout time. Now I’d suspect the majority of people die in debt which effectively gets forgiven by the owners of the debt. Which is as close to explicit wealth redistribution as you can get

I wonder if engaging with the highly interconnected world through a window of your best approximation of reason is an optimal* strategy. *by any metric you chose to determine what is optimal.

The defining criteria of science is that there is always an unassailable, dispassionate judge to adjudicate disagreements. If there is no dispassionate judge to adjudicate the disagreements then its something else. And if there are no disagreements, its not science either.

Ergodicity faith acts as a kind of inertia. Physicists refer explicitly to ergodicity breaking as a thing deserving of note for a reason. Systems “code switch” and when they do heuristics must change. We need to get better at teaching this to all the numbery disciplines.

Seems allowing prisoners to vote is a good way to disincentivize stacking people in prisons.

There has to be a way to bet on the fact that people make errors that lean on the side of assuming others have more shared values and pain tolerances than is true. I’ll find it. As gawd (and twitter) is my witness. I will find it.

I wish I could group block people who publicly dance on people’s graves. That’s a deal breaker for me. I don’t have many. But that is one. If we don’t have respect for the holes left by people when their impact has been ledgered, humanity has lost hope.

Imagine old principled knowledgeable politician, he knows where all the levers are in the system even if he can’t work them yet. Imagine Yang seeing all of this from an inside and high level of access. It’s generationally beautiful.

You know that feeling in a movie when you turn a corner in the narrative and some beautiful dawning happens and you get chills. I just had that feeling at the human learning opportunity with sanders/yang ticket. Forget about the politics for a second and consider:
