This is just wrong. As shows in _Our Declaration_, liberty depends on political equality (i.e., democracy). Perhaps by "rank democracy," the Senator means direct democracy. But no serious person thinks that democracy requires nothing more than majority rule.

Folks keep asking why I support ranked choice voting: 1) people should have to earn 50%+1 votes before winning office; 2) makes room for less well resourced/nontraditional candidates to enter ring; 3) it improves campaigning: less negative, more solutions oriented.

Eric, this is part of a long running, red herring debate about whether this country is a republic or a democracy. Utah's state educational standards prioritize the first term. Founding generation used both. You can find my review of issue here:

End of covid relief negotiations. End of hard-fought effort to secure much needed and long awaited investment in public health. Tragic. Heart-breaking. Total failure of leadership. Trump says stimulus relief negotiations over until after election

I was a lucky winner 19 years ago, though it seems I show up on an alphabetical list of all fellows that people are clicking on. So this gives me a chance to raise a hoorah to all new 2020 winners! What a wonderful group of innovators! 🥳

If we get a spectacle, it's because we have a taste for spectacle. Time to look into our own hearts.
