I wish was about raising awareness and we didn’t have to constantly fundraise to find funding for that our government purposely underfunds.

Stigma is bad for your health. So is poverty. So is bigotry. is great for raising a bit of money for some things, but if we are serious about promoting good mental health we need more than an annual tweetstorm and corporate feel-good marketing campaigns.

Mental health “awareness” is useless if people can’t access the help the need. Counselling is expensive and not covered by OHIP for most. Meds are not covered. We need to elect governments that will invest in our mental health.

Antidepressants & counselling helped me dig out from a very dark hole in my life, and continue to help me manage my depression. I am lucky to have benefits that cover the cost of these for me - we need universal pharmacare and comprehensive mental health coverage.

if we've shared classroom space in pre-clerkship, you've heard me talk about messiness in sex/gender distinctions + the need to complicate our understanding of how body-world interactions produce health/illness for , some of these thoughts:

There is no neutral. You are participating in systems of oppression in ways that uphold it or disrupt it. There is no perfect party but some of the messaging around voting as harm reduction is resonating with me tonight.

This is the rejection letter for the work that just won the Nobel Prize. Don’t stop believing! I should save all of mine and maybe one day some stranger will think it’s an amazing relic and tweet it...

It is not ok to ask this question in a job or school interview...asking strangers to relive the most traumatic moments of their lives so you can evaluate “how they handled it” is insensitive and oppressive and completely disrespectful of boundaries.
