Maybe I have been staring too much lidar doing hazard mapping recently, but that kind of looks like a large debris fan in the foreground. Thoughts?

I love being outdoors anytime of year, and I love doing field work during leaf-off season, but I miss the late spring and early summer. Here are some flowers from my house that I found while going back through last year's pics(Breathe...it will be ok)

Found this on the floor of my daughters room. At least she has her priorities straight. I love how she organized her collection!pic.twitter.com/PlEJH2U2mC

This is a video looking up both directions in the Nantahala gorge. Please forgive the shakiness. The surface was hard to stand on.pic.twitter.com/M8x23dxJTw

This is the quarry down below. Note the tiny dump trucks. The second pic is looking along the gorge.pic.twitter.com/XSbLT9EUHz

I took these
#drone photos with a Mavic 2 pro at Devil's Hangover in the Nantahala gorge, Swain County, NC. In 2019 debris flows started in areas burned in 2016, traveling down to the river, dropping over 500m. Look for the geologists in orange vests.#fieldgeology#geomorphologypic.twitter.com/X49tHoTod2

I found some very cool puffball mushrooms today in Polk County, North Carolina, on the Blue Ridge Escarpment. I helped spread some spores into the wind with my walking stick. Any ideas about ID?

This should be read aloud in your best southern accent, preferably very loud and in a duet with a friend.

The Lorenz attractor is a series of iterative partial differential equations that use the outputs as the inputs for each subsequent iteration. Here is a video I made of one example: https://youtu.be/B5VRBMQd3nA Here is a wiki about the Lorenz system: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorenz_system …

There are some heavy storms moving up from the gulf. Note the expanding spherical air masses in the satellite view. This is from the Windy app (http://windy.com ). Apparently my screen capture audio includes my kids watching cartoons. Stay safe everyone!

Yes, that would be better. I found a neat explanation of boudin geometry from University of Massachusetts Lowell that helped me. Possibly there is some shearing in these boudins, but like I said, it is hard to tell if this is pure shear from the pic https://faculty.uml.edu/nelson_eby/89.520/Instructor%20pdfs/Chapter%2015.%20Boudinage.pdf …pic.twitter.com/ApUd4OXQ3Y
