Grooming a child is an incredibly specific set of targeted, manipulative behaviors that slowly desensitizes a child to sexual contact, with the aim of sexual contact. If I’m wrong about that, I’d like to know, bc that’s how it’s always been taught to me & my results of googling.

That’s all it means when I have said, “Zack wasn’t groomed.” Zack himself described the relationship as his initiative. That means Ally didn’t slowly erode his boundaries. That’s it.

Language develops beyond technicalities used in formal discussion. While there may objectively be a difference between grooming and power abuse the two are often hand in hand and among informal vernacular. Y'all are educated on sexual assault and it's language, the public isn't.

CSA affected a person in my real life, so I’ve always known those definitions & assumed others did too I spoke as an individual in saying “Zack wasn’t groomed” & clearly I didn’t understand people would equate that with “wasn’t subject to power imbalance”
