        The majority of health systems around the world have managed to become universal without complete nationalization. NHS was designed that way at its inception but we have to deal with the patchwork of private, nonprofit etc., we've got. Also, I've worked at the VA, never again.

        I think with ACA we were well on our way to having a system like Denmark's - one with some of the highest satisfaction from its people. We have to deal with the reality that whatever we do, Republicans will try to stomp on and break it, and apply it for political ends.

        The government need not own the assets to manage the system. In fact, efficiencies can be gained by the latter approach. The NHS is not an insurance system. It includes the underlying assets.
