More evidence for the 'we're all the same person' theory... I love baroque music and am obsessed with the chaconne form in particular. Enjoying listening to these now!

Though I especially love the Italian baroque, and am more interested in melody and instrumental texture than complex harmonic stuff (which mostly goes over my head as my theory knowledge is poor). Stuff like this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_vrBLedI9E …

btw do you have any recs for learning harmony and counterpoint? I know this is holding back my appreciation of Bach in particular, and probably a lot more.

I enjoy texture and melody over complex harmony too. I think its reliance on comparatively simpler chords is what gives baroque music that confident, robust feeling I like (complex harmonies has a tendency to sound fragile and delicate imo).

Yes, agree on that too! I like baroque music, and composers like Beethoven and Mahler who always put in a big loud unsubtle tune as well as the groundbreaking inventive stuff
