How do you react to people retweeting stuff that praises them? Like if I were to retweet somebody saying "@xuenay's essay is really cool everyone should read it". I see other people doing this but feel kinda weird about doing it myself. Not sure if I should?

I’m becoming incrementally more American in this respect since being here, it’ll be interesting to see how far that goes. Statements I once found cringe-worthy seem less so now. Tho I confess I’m still cautious applying the principle to myself. I’m still a Mumblybrit at heart.

Tangent, but I'm curious, has Britain always been this informal w/ titles/etc or is that a recent thing? It was really hard for me to address professors by first name for YEARS. In DE "Herr X" is the INFORMAL address for a professor "Prof. X" is neutral "Prof. Dr. X" is formal

(That is, letter-head level format, once you're at ceremonial level you're talking "Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Dr. h.c. X" or w/e, but at that level you do have "X, BA, MA, FRS" etc in English)
