I had a fun conversation with @eriktorenberg about tools for thought, knowledge work, books, and so on. Listen in if you like!https://www.breaker.audio/venture-stories/e/52733086 …

That was a great podcast! When I was a student, 10 years ago, I had a revelation about how I’d think I’d changed through reading books, but when someone asked about it, couldn’t clearly articulate the learning.

A short follow-up thread here, about how I intentionally changed my own learning style, ten years ago:https://twitter.com/_awbery_/status/1191136051806392320 …

This thread is fascinating - conscious articulation is the thing I really struggle with too. Would love to hear more if you felt like writing about it :) (haven't listened to the podcast yet, but plan to)

Oh that’s good to know. I’ve been keeping some notes for a blog that doesn’t exist for years. Funny thing is, I’ve never really felt confident in my capacity to articulate my experience of the process.

I think articulate expression of the learning process requires some distance – ie, building a context/domain for the experience – before it can be fluent. But waiting for that distance also risks forgetting the felt sense/reality of what it’s like at the time.

That’s a been a conscious dilemma, since I started STEM learning. So I’ve been jotting notes for the invisible, non-existent blog over the years, thinking “maybe I’ll be able to say something about this some day” !

Yes, I know what you mean... the 'too early' stuff can be valuable though because of still having the felt sense really strongly, as you say. I'd definitely like to read this blog anyway!
