BTW I should have said - as well as valuing effectiveness, I actually specifically like the "writing under a pseudonym that signals that it might be crappy" strategy. I think you undersell your writing by doing that, but I can see why that would be psychologically helpful to do.
Yeah - I don't really feel the need to signal that so much any more, but I like the name so I'm sticking with it!
