not to be rude but i still cant believe that san francisco seriously voted to block construction of a new building (with 15 below-market units) bc it would've cast a shadow on a park for like...an hour or two a day
that's 15 families that won't get to live in a dense walkable neighborhood because the people in power care more about a shadow covering 20% of the park for less than two hours on the longest day of the year than they do about housing people
anyway i dont live in SF and don't have a horse in this race but like...........damn
also i know SF has weird microclimates and gets that foggy summer or whatever, but have any of these people ever been outdoors on a hot sunny day? shadows rule

nah its cool...the zucchini garden is a classic and i continue to use it as a prime example of NIMBYism when it comes up in conversation

In Hawaii we cant build over 150 - 220 feet in the most densely populated city so that people can see the ocean from their house, but then they get mad when they have to see all the homeless???
I also don’t want to be rude, but I can’t help but wonder if 15 low income people would have these homes to look forward to if the last D6 election has gone differently. Local elections matter most for those who vote least in them!
