This is a fantastic, much less well-known story than the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, which happened 45 years ago today. But this one -- spoiler alert -- has a happy ending.

This occurred not far from Bay Mills Indian Community. Lots of people are familiar with the story of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Rightfully so. It was tragic. The city of Duluth honored 2020 grads at local colleges and high schools by lighting the lift bridge in each school’s colors over the course of a few weeks. A nice gesture during a difficult year.
