Good news: I made a 1.5 hour coding video for a new Rails app to share how I code, to share some new experiments. Bad news: Descript quietly reported an error at the 45m mark. I’m sure the video will be better anyway when I re-record it. Yeah, surely :)

I cannot believe diff types of poison pills like what Tesla is doing, and Shopify asking to grant “founder” shares to CEO, are still ok. Are there any articles explain them well and make a positive case for them?

I’d read Michael Lewis’ Liars Poker many many years ago. Recently it turned up on Audible finally being read by the author. Whilst he’s 30 years older, he reads like the events only just happened to him. Great story well told.

I am sorry to be cranky at them. Things should get easier once you've committed to paying money, not more difficult.

Has anyone found a way to use paid + plugins within package.json build system? It is making me feel stupid.

And they conflate all this by calling it "Tiny Cloud". To their support team, "cloud" means "you install our tool from the cloud [via <script src>]", not "our plugins provide a central cloud service". Back and forth I go with their support to ask "so how do I use your thing?"

But if you want paid plugins... you cannot use package.json. You _must_ use <script src>. But this is only implicit. They haven't updated any docs. Their old demo apps still show using the plugins via package.json. But using <script src> means their libs aren't in my build.

The tool is a lovely open source javascript editor. You can add it to your app via <script src> but many many people use a javascript build tool to load it from package.json and combine with bespoke code to import tinymce, customize it, import plugins etc.

The unspoken benefit of using open source, and not the paid version of a product, must be obvious to anyone who tries to use the paid product and get support - you're blocked by an entire group of people and a "VP of Customer Support" from doing what you want to do.

Organising insurance for my USA staff at was one of their weirder experiences. When I tried to explain to the broker that his words didn’t make sense he replied “that’s because you’re from a socialist country”

I just realized my non-US friends probably don't know how US insurance works. So lets say your employer offers insurance. They pay a portion and then you pay a portion. For a family, the employee pays on average about $400 per pay cycle, or $10,400 per year.

I really enjoy emails. The latest one is on gaming miniatures, designers and licensing, 3D printing, innovations and their profit takers, and even fancy “AI” to design models ready to print.

Chris Rock took that hit very well. He must perform in some nasty venues to brush off that event and move forward.
