Amazing talk as always, Michael. That thing you are doing is really mind blowing. Do you have any idea why axolotls, despite being so good regenerating themselves, don’t have an indefinite lifespan?

I've asked myself that many times; no clue! It's a great question. Planaria do it, I'm not sure why not Axolotl. Perhaps there are some key tissues (heart? brain?) that aren't *totally* regenerative like in planaria? I don't know!

You briefly mention here that organs compete for information. I'm trying to read more on that but google isn't turning up much, do you know where that was published?

Check out the papers cited in this: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.100 . There are numerous examples, including cells that compete for limiting chemical signaling factors and targeting molecules etc.
