This is essentially the same as our working hypothesis, for whatever that's worth. You need to actually feel things. If you never get to, that's trauma.

Yeah, I think the trauma/numbing link is basically canon. The thing that this model predicts that didn't really make sense to me before is why habitually suppressing negative reactions makes things worse

"unlocking the emotional brain" is the book on it everyone's talking about at the moment. Basic model is essentially to set off a trigger in a safe environment, understand it, and while it's active try to replace it with a better response. I don't understand it that well though
