I still occasionally have flashbacks from like 5th grade when the soccer coach was screaming at me during a game. “GET ON THE RIGHT WING!” 🤬⚽️🏃‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️
I think another important datapoint is this was before IKEA expanded in the U.S. I don’t think there was an IKEA in the Bay Area until 2000. So in the 90’s cheap furniture was stacked milk crates, thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales and hardware stores.

I just explained to a Millennial that most GenXers moved out before we could afford furniture, so we stacked plastic milk crates to make our furniture and then just replaced each thing with used or cheap, as we could. Back me up, fam. This was a thing, right?
