Time to stop this rubbish about #herdimmunity Herd immunity is the desirable outcome of a national immunisation program. It is NOT a strategy for preventing illness and death from an uncontrolled infectious disease. There is no vaccine against #coronavirus yet

There's also no info suggesting immunity is a given after exposure, how long it lives on surfaces, or how long it's transmittable before & after symptoms appear. Herd Immunity is like dystopian culling of the most vulnerable. TOTALLY Irresponsible BS.https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/mar/15/epidemiologist-britain-herd-immunity-coronavirus-covid-19 …

#COVIDー19 really is a gift from the elite to the lower orders, anywhere outside its point of origin. I can't afford to fly anywhere local let alone Europe or USA. Plenty of people can, and they're the ones bringing back and spreading it around like #Dutton.

Dr Phelps @drkerrynphelps isn’t the problem with “herd immunity” strategy this: if you recover from COVID-19 you are not then rendered “immune” .. you could be infected again?

The influence of #Trump & #Morrison has taken over. If the average #Australian adult doesn't understand there is no #herdimmunity without a #vaccine. I don't even know if it is worth me going back to teach? I mean...really? #coronavirus #auspol #insiders #flatteningthecurve

Closing schools is effective. Herd immunity only makes sense if the herd has a vaccine.https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/03/does-closing-schools-slow-spread-novel-coronavirus …

Closing schools also withdraws many many of our health care professionals from treating COVID-19 infected patients as well as the rest of the sick population. Otherwise who else is there to look after their healthy kids?🤔

It was a terrible slip for the CMO and @ScottMorrisonMP to mention that Australia was adopting a Herd Immunity approach in their interviews yesterday. Thankfully, that can be put to rest by experts like you. Thank you, @drkerrynphelps

So why was the CMO speaking about kids staying in school to develop it? I agree it's rubbish but why is our CMO espousing this?

Our CMO is a kidney specialist, he doesn’t do viruses.
