Way to gain followers during the pandemic: bash the US. Promote fear. Consider every #COVID19 case as a stab in the heart. Be certain. Way to lose followers: accept that this is a dastardly difficult pathogen, consider it as just another disease, be uncertain, ask questions

Terrific post. One issue I can’t grasp is how an industrialized nation unleashed this on the world - and regardless of intention - seems to have no culpability. Inexplicable. $ talks or in this case ensures silence?

I agree with the general idea. But not with the “just another dis” statement. In Brazil, it’s common to compare COVID deaths with cardiovasc ones. But heart attacks are much less preventable than the official propaganda suggests - at least with magic pills or the “unclog” agenda.

With COVID at least people have more “choice”. Even knowing that there are unintended consequences. Even knowing that some people don’t have / can’t.

I actually sorta do bash the US for putting up with DT. The American people could have pushed the republicans out of congress two years ago and they didn’t. We knew he was dangerous stupid 2 years ago. They didn’t push republicans out and look how much worse it got.

Acknowledging that the US response to this pandemic has been abysmal is not the same as bashing the US. Criticism of the administration’s response to the virus is not un-American. Every preventable case is a stab in the heart.

What's sad about this whole interaction is how political medicine and science has gotten. Just wasn't the case, pre-Trump. Why does @drjohnm have to identify himself as a conservative? Yes, I read his thread on the subject but he contradicts himself when he says...
