You know Dr Joe, I have a thing against parents above 60 years! I ao feel they are responsible for the rot in this country. They lost their didactics too easily. And they now imbibe same in their children! Hence, many children who are home made have corrupt tendencies.

Maybe, like you today, there was nothing they could do. You probably don’t know what it was like to live under Military rule. Yet, some, like Fela, Gani Fawehinmi and Ken Saro-Wiwa still had the courage to stand for what is right..while literally staring down the barrel of a gun

This is powerful sir I was angry with my mum for leaving when I was just 2yrs. In 2010, I graduated from Uni, paid my flight to SL just to forgive her. I found peace from that time Sadly now she has dementia, doesn't even recognize me. I'm so glad I met her then when she was ok.

I’m proud of what you’ve become, Sis.

Is it possible to forgive them and still keep a safe distance. In the event that they haven't changed their ways.

Very true sir. I have a friend who has stuck by me for years. He told me I gave him the best gift -enabling him to be reconciled to his dad. Truth is most of our parents did stuff to us without even knowing what they were doing. In a bid to provide and survive they became brutes

Some knew what they were doing though. Forgiving them is giving them a gift some don't deserve: give it anyway. Some will appreciate it and some will not: still give it. Ask God to give you what it takes to forgive them. Put them on your monthly budget. Be like Joseph in d Bible
