hard opposite. WFH works best for high functioning teams, worst for low trust / inexperienced teams that need close oversight and handholdinghttps://twitter.com/fortworthchris/status/1455864753147072512 …

WFH doesn’t work for high functioning teams. It’s impossible to create culture from a bedroom. A hill I’ll die on.

I will say that onboarding into a large org remotely was a brutal experience which I will never do again if given the choice

I'm personally pretty glad I had some time in the office before starting remote work. You learn a lot faster.

sure. certainly there are lots of cases where in person is helpful, especially up front, especially in larger organizations, especially for more junior staff who need training, etc etc

I feel like for "remote native" orgs the right answer is probably like, meet in person when needed for a few weeks at a wework to iron out specific wrinkles, then break the huddle. Wonder what Coinbase does tbh

The ability to sit around a whiteboard for several hours learning something new without getting mega distracted and/or wanting to commit seppuku

Maybe I am just weak in this regard but I find that my mind is significantly sharper/more focused in person, and able to maintain focus for much longer periods

From what I've seen the best remote workers have spent years in the office building up relationships and knowledge. Unless your org is build from the ground up for it, it seems really hard to get new hires up to speed in the same way.
