i'm not smart or anything so don't listen to me but in my limited experience and more extensive observation writing about keynes, freud, and marx is hopeless, the corpus is just too large and someone will always say you're wrong because you didn't reference xyz thing they wrote

better to write about socrates, jesus, wittgenstein, very limited if any original materials, work is mostly transmitted through interpreters and followers, you can get a handle on stuff pretty quickly

That's why Kripke had to step in with an entire monograph devoted solely to explanation of the Investigations, and even he got pilloried! No winning with interpretive work it seems
