You're not looking for unique edges nobody else has discovered. You're looking for opportunities people pass over because exploiting them is unattractive.

There's basically nothing new. Quant trading only has ~3 parents: - Princeton Newport - PDT Partners - SIG Approximately everything else is a derivative.

I have (mostly unfounded) suspicions that RenTec derived a lot from Thorp in their early days.

Would love to hear you elaborate on these suspicions, also curious why you include PDT Partners as I was told by someone who works there that they "borrowed" some of their early approach from Prediction Company
