US accredited investor laws are more insidious than investors not getting access to early stage opps it entrenches soft control in the hands of "usual suspect" investors, who may have varying objectives based on their portfolio i suspect this may harm competitiveness overall

The nanny state is ridiculous. Investor protections and disclosures are important, but shutting off access altogether is insidious.

even in the absence of accreditation rules most opportunities will remain closed to most people. Firms running high-Sharpe books want a few large LPs with locked up capital, not small retail LPs that will vanish at the first sign of trouble. You'll get private restrictions anyway
