Me: Why is Binance's API clearly design to inflict maximum pain on anyone who cares about... you know... Datatypes? Consistency? Not incinerating $? Also me: Crypto is pretty awesome, I can do basically whatever I want! Me but only rarely: Maybe these two facts are connected...

Many exchanges will offer some form of credit facility to the big guys so it’s less of an issue. You can see even medium size firms moving into VC etc, so their available capital is clearly out-scaling the requirements. But as a small participant it’s definitely a tough problem.

Withdrawal/deposit liquidity is not a given; even on larger exchanges there can be idiosyncratic delays. And then most exchanges don't even have intra-exchange margin so you have to figure out how to allocate funds between futures/inverse futures/spot margin/lending. Huge PITA.

And resting orders lock up your capital because of course they do, the risk engines are "good enough."
