Thing about lab leak hypothesis is that even if you confirmed it with a smoking gun it's not like it would matter a whole lot, XJP is gonna decide Chinese policy his way regardless and the US isnt gonna go after their largest trading partner over a bona fide accident

Yeah. I think it's important to investigate with dispassionate scientific analysis but this wouldn't be what would happen here. Us academics and academics-adjacent people are not good at communicating with the public, let's be honest here!
